For a third year in a row, Vice-Captain Harris Andrews has been awarded the Marcus Ashcroft Award for the Most Professional Player. High Performance Manager Damien Austin presented him with the award.
Andrews received his first All Australian blazer this year and played in 21 games for the Lions, including the Club’s two AFL Finals Series matches.
Marcus Ashcroft, the award’s namesake, epitomised what it meant to be a ‘professional’ athlete at the Lions and set the standard for the team in terms of his preparation, approach to training and overall attitude.
Austin and his team decide on the player to be awarded this honour by who upholds the player values and standards both on and off the field; whether it be at trainings or in meetings. The player endeavours to continue to develop themselves in a professional manner.
