Easy being Green
Josh Green is the Lions' super sub after his three-goal cameo in the win against West Coast
With his team trailing by 14 points at three-quarter time, Voss injected the 19-year-old Tasmanian with devastating results.
Green, in just his eighth AFL game, kicked three of the Lions' eight final quarter goals to help get his team over the line by two points.
He soccered one off the ground in the first minute, ran into another goal midway through the quarter and kicked a third later on to whip the crowd into a frenzy.
Four disposals, three goals and a win: not a bad quarter's work.
"To come on and play a role, I'm happy with that," Green said in a jubilant Lions' dressing room post-match.
"Come on when everyone's a bit tired and make an impact, whether it's goals or tackles, because you're a bit fresher than everyone, and just help the forward line out - that's the message the subs get.
"It's good to come in and play your role and if they keep playing me as the sub I'm happy to do that. I'm just happy to be in the team."
Green played five games last year but had to wait until round eight to make his first appearance of 2012.
The stress reaction in Todd Banfield's fibula opened up a spot against GWS and Green pounced with 18 disposals.
He kicked two goals against North Melbourne last week and made it a career-high three against the Eagles.
Green said he enjoyed playing alongside fellow small forward Dayne Zorko, who had 18 disposals, nine tackles and a goal against West Coast.
"We've got that good bit of chemistry me and him, both smaller players, so hopefully Toddy can come in and we can all play the small forward role.
"I really enjoy playing with Dayne down there and hopefully we can start something special."
Green said the Lions had to push on after beating the table-topping Eagles.
"It's a great feeling, to knock a top four team off which we've been talking about for a while now, and hopefully that can kick-start our season," he said.
"That's one scalp, but we can't get ahead of ourselves."
