Fans can now begin planning their social calendars for next year following the release of the official 2013 AFL Fixture.

Many from outside Queensland will no doubt be eyeing off the three back-to-back Gabba encounters (in Rounds 9/10, 15/16, and 21/22) as potential winter getaways, while some have already booked flights to Melbourne over Easter to watch the Club’s season opener against the Western Bulldogs.

Take a look at the Lions' full 2013 AFL Fixture

The Club also looks set to celebrate a number of significant milestones throughout the 2013 season, which are outlined in further detail below:

Round 4: Lions v North Melbourne @ Etihad Stadium
Sunday 21 April, 4:40pm

The Lions will participate in their first ever Sunday twilight match in Melbourne when they face the Kangaroos in Round 4.

Round 5: Lions v Melbourne @ Gabba
Sunday 28 April, 3:15pm

New Lions recruits Brent Moloney and Stefan Martin will not only get their first opportunity to face their former side, but it could also mark the match where Simon Black surpasses Marcus Ashcroft’s Brisbane record of 318 AFL matches.

Round 6: Lions v Sydney @ SCG
Sunday 5 May, 1:10pm

The Lions’ match-up against the reigning AFL Premiers could see defender Matt Maguire bring up his 150-game milestone (he is currently on 144 games).

Round 9: Lions v Carlton @ Gabba
Saturday 25 May, 7:40pm

The Gabba blockbuster against the Blues in Round 9 also looms as Jed Adcock’s 150th AFL match (he is currently on 141 games).

Round 10: Lions v Collingwood @ Gabba
Friday 31 May, 7:50pm

In what will be only the Club’s third regular season Friday night prime-time match at the Gabba in 10 years, the Lions will square off against arch rivals Collingwood - on the 10th Anniversary of their historic Premiership win over the Pies back in 2003.

The match will also prove Michael Voss’ 100th game as Senior Coach. Significantly, it will make him just the fourth coach across the Club’s all-time history (including Fitzroy and Bears) to reach the milestone.

Round 12: Lions v Fremantle @ Patersons Stadium
Saturday 15 June, 2:40pm

It could be a double-celebration against the Dockers in Perth, with both Joel Patfull and Brent Staker due to play their 150th games (both currently sit on 139 matches).

Round 13: Lions v Geelong @ Gabba
Sunday 23 June, 4:40pm

Ash McGrath is set to bring up his 200th AFL match against Geelong in front of his home Gabba crowd in Round 13 (he is currently on 188 matches).

Round 16: Lions v North Melbourne @ Gabba
Saturday 13 July, 7:40pm

Daniel Merrett is set to line-up for his 150th match against North Melbourne at the Gabba (he is currently on 135 matches).

Round 17: Lions v Melbourne @ TIO Stadium, Darwin
Saturday 20 July, 7:10pm

The Round 17 match against the Demons will be the Club’s first ever match in the Northern Territory for premiership points.

Round 18: Lions v Port Adelaide @ AAMI
Sunday 28 July, 12:40pm

Round 18 might be your last chance to see the Lions play at AAMI Stadium, before the Adelaide Oval takes over as South Australia’s primary AFL venue from 2014 onwards.

Round 19: Lions v St Kilda @ Gabba
Saturday 3 August, 7:40pm

Gun midfielder Daniel Rich could be lining up for his 100th AFL match (in just his 5th season!) when the Lions take on St Kilda at the Gabba in Round 19. Rich will need to remain durable, however, as he is currently on 82 games.

Round 20: Lions v Richmond @ MCG
Saturday 10 August, 1:45pm

James Polkinghorne could join Rich in the 100-club one week later when the Lions play their only MCG game for 2013 against Richmond in Round 20.

Round 21: Lions v GWS Giants @ Gabba
Saturday 18 August, 7:40pm

The Lions’ Round 21 match against GWS could turn out to be a cracker, with two of the Club’s biggest ever names set for major milestones.

Simon Black, arguably the Lions’ most decorated player, could potentially pass Fitzroy Legend Kevin Murray as the Club’s all-time leading game record holder. Black, who currently has 314 matches next to his name, needs just 20 more to rise above ‘Bulldog’s’ long-standing record.

Captain Jonathan Brown’s 250th AFL game could also come up against the AFL newest franchise at the Gabba. It would be a huge occasion for the three-time Club Champion who would become just the 13th player in the Club’s all-time history (Fitzroy and Bears included) to reach the figure.
