Brisbane Lions Academy product, Sam Marshall has been named in the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships U18 Boys All-Australian Team.
Marshall who plays as both an inside and outside midfielder, used his hard running and football nous to accumulate possessions at will and provide consistent drive for the Allies throughout the National Championships.
After averaging 27 disposals, four clearances and over three tackles per game, Marshall was selected in the team alongside five Allies teammates as well as Sandringham Dragons teammate, Levi Ashcroft, brother of Lions midfielder Will and son of 300-game Premiership Lion, Marcus.
Through the Allies four outings, Marshall showed clean hands and the courage to take the game on throughout the Championships to his team’s benefit.
Lion Academy Head Coach, Boys, Mitch Hahn said he was stoked to see Marshall’s hard work pay off.
“It is great to see Sam get his reward after a really strong carnival for the Allies and a very consistent year with us last season for the Academy,” Hahn said.
“After moving to Victoria for school, he was huge for us through the Coates Talent League last season, his footy smarts and elite running held him in good stead in his VFL outing for the Club earlier this year.
“To take his form from his Academy games into the National Championship is a testament to his consistency and professionalism.”
The 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships U18 Boys All Australian Team selection panel consisted of a number of AFL Club recruiters including the Lions National Recruiting Manager Stephen Conole.
