The Lions have put the ‘sold out’ sign up at the Gabba for the sixth time this season, days out from a blockbuster clash with the Swans.
With just six rounds of the 2024 AFL Premiership remaining the Lions have won their past six games in a row and now sit in the Top 4 ahead of the Round 19 clash.
Lions CEO, Greg Swann said the strong support from the Lions growing fan base was posing some capacity challenges for the club.
“Year on year we’re seeing consistent growth across all metrics of the game in Queensland from Auskick and community participation through to our Membership and general fan base.
“It’s a good problem to have but it does pose challenges for a venue like the Gabba where capacity has actually decreased over the years.
“Last year we had five sell outs during the home and away season and another two during our finals campaign, so to be at six already with big matches against the Giants and Bombers still to come is a credit to our fans.
Swann said I’ve heard a few of the boys say the crowd is like having an extra man on the field.
“The team love the noise, so we want our Lions fans to bring the roar this Sunday!”
“If any members are unable to attend, we’d ask them to either return their seat to the club or forward their seat to family or friends to attend.”
