The final month of the home and away season is here!

Top four on the line, a club champions milestone to celebrate, we literally can’t control our emotions.

So, Lions fans, let’s all take a deep breath and break down this week’s match preview one step at a time.

Last Time We Met

Last time: Brisbane 19.12 (126) d St Kilda 16.10 (106) Round 14, 2024

It wasn’t so long ago that we held off a fierce, fast finishing St Kilda to secure a crucial 20-point victory at the Gabba, to keep our finals aspirations alive. Our boys were dominant early and built a commanding 37-point lead by three-quarter time, but St Kilda narrowed the margin to just seven points before Logan Morris kicked an important goal in the final term. Joe Daniher, who was instrumental with five goals (from 20 disposals and 13 marks), and helped extend the lead with a spectacular goal from the boundary line. Charlie Cameron also contributed shortly after, sealing the win.

Dayne Zorko and Hugh McCluggage were pivotal with their ball use, driving our fast-paced game which stymied the Saints' defence early on. Despite losing the clearance count 13-1 in the first quarter, the boys were able to capitalize on turnovers, with Zorko leading the charge from half-back and setting up numerous scoring opportunities for the likes of Daniher, Morris, Ah Chee, Rayner, and Lohmann.

This week we head back to Marvel Stadium to face an in-form St Kilda in front of their home crowd. It’s another must win for our boys as we fight to lock in a top four spot on the ladder with just four games remaining in season 2024.

Cooper Sharman vs Jaxon Prior

This may not be one on your radar but it’s sure to be an intriguing battle. Priz will have the task of neutralizing St Kilda’s Cooper Sharman, who has been a bright spot for the Saints in recent weeks. Sharman’s impressive form in front of goal has been pivotal for St Kilda, making him a key player to watch. Adding to the intrigue, Prior is coming off arguably his best performance against the Gold Coast Suns in QClash 27, which senior coach Chris Fagan described as his best for the club to date. This duel will be a crucial element of the game, as Prior aims to curb Sharman's influence in front of goal. With both players bringing their best to the field, this match up will be sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats.
