Seven new faces will don Lions colours for the first time during Friday’s practice match against Richmond at Brighton Homes Arena.
In their final hit out before the start of the 2024 NAB AFLW Season, the Lions have named all five of their 2023 draft crop named along with new recruits Eleanor Hartill and Shanae Davison.
Drafted out of the Lions Academy, Evie Long, Sophie Peters, Indiana Williams, Jacinta Baldwick and Rania Crozier will be eager to impress as they push their case for Round 1 selection.
Hartill and Davison, named in the forward line and off half-back respectively, will look to press their case to Lions AFLW senior coach, Craig Starcevich.
Reigning Lions best and fairest winner, Ally Anderson has been rested while foundation Lion, Shannon Campbell is unavailable with a minor knee complaint, both are expected to be fit to face North Melbourne in Round 1.
Jade Pregelj and Dee Heslop are both unavailable through injury, Pregelj remains in ACL protocols while Heslop is recovering from calf strain suffered during the pre-season.
The Lions return to Brighton Homes Arena for the first time since their Preliminary Final triumph over Geelong last season.
It marks the first meeting between the Lions and Tigers since Round 1, 2023 where the Tigers took home the chocolates by six points.
