The evenness of Brisbane Lions across the field has been highlighted with a total of five players from all three lines selected in the All-Australian squad for 2024.
Standout seasons saw Lachie Neale, Harris Andrews, Joe Daniher, Dayne Zorko and Cam Rayner all named and in contention to claim a blazer on Thursday night.
All five players arrive at this point from a different individual journey – including the exciting rise of Rayner who makes his squad debut.
The former No.1 pick experienced his best season playing as a midfielder-forward booting 25 goals, averaging 15.7 disposals, 5.5 score involvements and 3.1 tackles.
While his Co-Captain Neale has been named in the squad for an impressive eighth time and is a chance to claim his fourth blazer.
Neale has had no issue finding plenty of the ball with an average of 29.5 disposals with a 75.7% efficiency, 7.5 clearances, 6.8 score involvements and 13 goals.
The midfield dynamo is joined by Andrews, who he shares the Lions Co-Captaincy with, after experiencing a stellar season in defence for Brisbane.
During both the Lions tough start and their nine consecutive wins, Andrews was leading the way and causing headaches for opposition forwards.
Andrews, aiming for his third All-Australian honour, averaged 13.4 disposals at superb 89.5% disposal efficiency to go with his average of 3.9 marks and 7.9 spoils.
Zorko also produced a brilliant individual season in defence, with the 35-year-old veteran winding back the clock to be a chance to become a dual All-Australian
Racking up an average of 26 disposals and 8.2 marks saw Zorko constantly rebounding off half-back regularly and accurately with his 78% disposal efficiency.
While at the other end of the ground Daniher was doing some of his best work which saw him boot 50 goals for the season which was helped by him averaging 6.5 marks.
The tall forward didn’t only hit the scoreboard regularly himself, he averaged 6.9 score involvements to highlight his love for bringing his teammates into the game.
The All-Australian team will be announced at the AFL Awards on Thursday night.
