It’s do or die semi-final time!

Really its simple, win, live to fight another day. Lose, well I think we all know what that means.

We're on the road, behind enemy lines for a truly GIANT semi-final blockbuster. So, strap in Lions fans it’s time for another match preview.

Last Time We Met

Round 22: GWS 13.4 (82) d Brisbane 8.16 (64)

In Round 22 at the Gabba, our Lions lost to Greater Western Sydney 8.16 (64) to 13.4 (82) despite a dominant start. The Lions stormed to a 31-1 lead at quarter-time, controlling the game but struggling with inaccurate kicking, including three shots that hit the post.

Will Ashcroft, playing his best game since returning from a knee reconstruction, collected 29 disposals and was a standout in general play. Two goals from Cal Ah Chee helped Brisbane take an 11-point lead into halftime. However, GWS rallied, kicking 13 of the last 17 goals—including the final six—to secure a stunning comeback win.

However, it’s a new day and our Lions are primed to rewrite their past indiscretions in this massive semi-final clash!

Big O’s 150th Game!

There's an extra buzz of excitement with Oscar McInerney celebrating his 150th game for the club—ironically, against the same team he faced in his debut, the Giants. It’s like the universe is throwing a party just for him! Lions’ fans are roaring with anticipation, thrilled to see Big O hit this milestone. His journey from rookie to ruckman extraordinaire has been nothing short of legendary. Here’s hoping he brings his usual “ruck and roll” energy to make this game a memorable one for both him and the fans!

Match-ups we're keen for

It’s a massive week for our back six as they prepare to face the challenge of containing GWS’s powerful forward line. Harris Andrews, Jack Payne, and Brandon Starcevich will lead the charge against a forward setup that includes Coleman Medallist Jesse Hogan, the dynamic Toby Greene, and rising star Aaron Cadman. Most notably the last time Brandon Starcevich went toe-to-toe with Giants skipper Toby Greene, our man kept him to just four disposals—the lowest of his 238-game career—while Starcevich himself gathered 13 disposals and five marks. The task is formidable and while it’s a crucial week for the back six, it takes all 23 men to get the job done.
