The Brisbane Lions Football Club regret to advise that former Fitzroy ruckman Colin ‘Stretch’ McNeil passed away last night, at the age of 88.
‘Stretch’ was the 750th player to represent our Club in a senior VFL/AFL match, playing 8 senior games and kicking 9 goals with Fitzroy between 1959-60.
Wearing the number 38 guernsey, he kicked three goals on debut against South Melbourne in Round 2 of 1959, and played in Fitzroy Reserves’ Grand Final loss to Hawthorn at the MCG later that year.
The Club extends its sincerest condolences to Colin’s wife Therese and his entire family at this difficult time.
