The AFL in conjunction with the Queensland Government, Stadiums Queensland, Clubs and other key stakeholders have postponed Thursday’s Opening Round fixture, between the Brisbane Lions and Geelong Cats, due to the predicted impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

The AFL will confirm a revised fixture shortly and the Lions & Ticketmaster will confirm updated ticketing arrangements when a new date for the match has been set.

Members and ticketholders should retain their tickets as these will be valid for the rescheduled match.

Brisbane Lions CEO, Greg Swann:

“While this is a difficult decision, and we appreciate there has been some uncertainty for patrons, public safety remains the number one priority.

“This decision is in lockstep with Government advice and the wellbeing of fans, players, their families and the ability to deliver a safe experience for patrons has all been taken into account.

“To all our fans, members and the public across southeast Queensland, stay safe, stay up to date with the latest advice and look out for one another.”

Club and Lions Shop Closure
