Forwards Coach Jed Adcock said Eric Hipwood stepped up for the team when he produced a magical four goal effort in the third quarter.
The Lions came into the third term down a goal before Hipwood enjoyed a 15-minute “purple patch.”
“In the scheme of things it was really nice because we were struggling to kick straight,” Adcock said.
“Then he comes out and kicks five straight in a row. So it was really important for us at the time.
“For him to step up as a 21-year-old and really grab a game and be able to capitalize on those chances was massive for us. “
That evening “Hippy” kicked his 100th AFL career goal in his fourth AFL season.
“From when he’s started to now, we’ve been building and growing as a team and haven’t been kicking many goals,” Adcock said.
“It’s been nice for him to be able to see the growth through individually.”
Hipwood would go on to kick five goals for the night.
