Vice-Captain Harris Andrews is the only change to Senior Coach Chris Fagan’s team to face the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon at The Gabba.
Andrews returns after a week on the sidelines due to suspension, which resulted in Josh Walker being omitted.
Fagan told media earlier this morning he felt for Walker, who had played his role for the team in their Round 19 win over the Hawks in Tasmania.
“I thought Josh Walker did a good job last week,” he said.
“It’s a little hard for a guy like Josh to go out of the side off the back of a reasonably good performance but Harris is one of the better key defenders in the AFL.
“We’re happy to have him back.”
Andrews will have a tough assignment this weekend, up against one of the most exciting young forwards in the competition. In the Lions’ Round 8 loss to the Bulldogs in Ballarat 19-year-old Naughton booted three goals and was a dominant threat in the opposition’s forward 50.
“They’ve got a young forward by the name of Aaron Naughton who’s a very, very good player and that battle will be excellent to watch,” Fagan said.
The Lions will be aiming for their seventh straight victory on Sunday afternoon, but Fagan has warned his men cannot afford to get ahead of themselves.
“They’re fighting for a spot in the top eight and it’s going to be a really tough game and we need to play at our very, very best,” he said.
