After a tough couple of weeks, the Brisbane Lions' NEAFL side finally broke through for a win, holding off Sydney University by 11 points at Blacktown International Sportpark on Saturday.
The win ended a six-match losing streak for the Lions that dated back to late May. And crucially, it moved the Lions back into
"It was a pleasing result on the weekend. We didn't start the way we wanted to in the first quarter but the boys dug really deep," Coach Mitch Hahn said on the performance.
"Our second and third quarters were really pleasing. Sydney Uni came really hard at us in the last quarter but we were able to hold on."

"We had played some good patches but missed opportunities to move the ball inside 50. Our defence was a little bit off," Hahn said about the first quarter.
"We spoke about adjusting our press and zone and that made a big improvement going forward."
New recruit Tom Fullarton was impressive in his debut game after making the switch a few months ago from basketball to AFL.
Fullarton kicked two goals and almost had a third if it wasn't for the siren sounding to end the second quarter.
"His first act when we came onto the ground was to block for another teammate, which enabled Connor Ballenden to take a mark and kick a goal," Hahn said.
"He performed really well. He was on his toes and continued to move. He loved the experience and pulled up really well. We will increase his minutes this week.
"Hopefully we can build - there's not a huge exception on him, we just want to make sure he gets some games and then have a full-preseason next year."
