Steve Conole, Recruiting Manager, says:
“Brandon is a powerful player who’s testing at State Combine was very impressive. His variety of roles is very appealing. Brandon can play midfield or go forward, and will be a great acquisition to our Club.”
The Brisbane Lions have selected East Perth’s midfielder/forward Brandon Starcevich with Pick No.18 at the 2017 NAB AFL Draft.
Starcevich is considered a contested-ball beast who works
A quad injury restricted the young player during physical testing at the 2017 NAB AFL Combine. However, Starcevich proved to be a stand out at the Western Australia State Combine.
Starcevich produced outstanding results during the State Combine, blitzing the 20-metre sprint for the quickest time (2.87 seconds) and taking out the second highest running vertical jump (91 centimetres). The young player’s agility tests result also impressed, completing the test in 8.08 seconds to finished with the third quickest time.
Starcevich’s hunger for the contest cannot be denied as a winning factor for the young gun’s Drafting.
The 18- year-old has a strong family connection to the Club and is a spitting image of his Uncle, Craig Starcevich, Brisbane Lions’ AFLW Senior Coach and former Magpie.
