Rhys Mathieson had one of his best games for the Lions on Saturday and filled the void left by Dayne Beams' early injury. Mathieson collected a team-high 32 tackles and applied plenty of pressure on the GIANTS with six tackles.
Tom Rockliff also fought valiantly against the GIANTS star-studded midfield, securing 27 disposals and nine clearances.
In his 150th AFL match, Ryan Bastinac grabbed 21 disposals and kicked two goals.
Archie Smith also chipped in with two strong goals late in the match.
Alex Witherden impressed in his AFL debut, showing off composure beyond his years in collecting 20 disposals, taking seven marks and making seven rebound 50s.
Nick Robertson tallied 23 disposals and five tackles.
