The Brisbane Lions have had five players named in the 2024 AFLW All-Australian squad.

Captain Bre Koenen, Ally Anderson, and Sophie Conway along with first timers Belle Dawes and AFLW leading goalkicker, Taylor Smith have all been named.

It’s an extra impressive achievement for Anderson and Conway, being nominated for the second consecutive season.

Two-time All-Australian, Anderson has enjoyed another strong year averaging 26 disposals, six tackles and five clearances to remain one of the league’s premier inside midfielders.

While 2023 All-Australian Conway will be looking for her second blazer after her stellar campaign last season.

Averaging 18 touches, five tackles and booting 12 goals for the year, Conway has played a combination of inside and outside midfield, demonstrating her ability to play multiple positions.

Dawes and Smith have been rewarded for stellar seasons with their first All-Australian squad nominations.

Smith booted a league high 21 goals during the home and away season, equal with Aishling Moloney from Geelong for the AFLW’s leading goalkicker for 2024 forming a lethal combination with fellow tall Dakota Davidson.

On seven occasions Smith kicked multiple goals including a bag of four against the Bulldogs in Week Four and two games where she booted three goals against Collingwood and Sydney.

Dawes enjoyed a breakout 2024 averaging 19 touches, seven tackles and four clearance per game while booting a career high five goals this season.

After a strong finals series in 2023, Dawes continued her good form this year including winning best on ground in the QClash in Week 7 where she racked up 27 possessions and made six tackles.

Premiership captain and 2023 AFLW Grand Final Best on Ground winner, Bre Koenen returned to her primary position in defence this season and has been rewarded with her second All-Australian squad nomination.

Averaging 230 metres gained per game, Koenen has been a weapon for the Lions bouncing out of the back half along with being top five in league for intercept marks grabbing 2.4 per game.

The final All-Australian team will be named on Monday, November 25 at the W Awards.
