NEAFL Coach Mitch Hahn was extremely pleased with his side’s effort in thumping the Southport Sharks by 150 points on the weekend.
Hahn challenged his team to put together a complete performance against the Sharks and they responded in emphatic fashion, winning 27.13 (175) to 4.1 (25).
“It was a really good win. The pleasing thing was that we had 22 contributors and we played the full four quarters,” Hahn said.
The Lions fielded a full contingent of 22 AFL listed players on the weekend and Hahn said it was fantastic to have such a healthy list.
“It’s given us a great opportunity to put some solid footy together and get some wins on the board,” Hahn said.
“It’s a credit to everyone in the whole footy department – the medical staff, the coaches, the training program, everyone that’s involved to get that done.
“It’s certainly been a help to how we have performed this year.”
Josh Schache was at his best against the Sharks, bagging five goals in a powerful performance.
“We were pleased with Josh last week in terms of his work rate and his attitude, the way that he went about it,” Hahn said.
“The forward line is always a difficult position to play – sometimes you kick the goals and sometimes you don’t.
“This week he got the rewards with the goals. It’s fantastic to see him in a really good space.”
Currently sitting in third spot on the ladder, the Lions face the last-placed Giants this Saturday at South Pine Sports Complex.
The Giants have struggled with injuries and have won just one game this year, losing to the Swans 171 points in their last outing two weeks ago.
Despite their form coming into the match, Hahn said the Giants couldn’t be underestimated.
“For us it’s about the process, and about our players going about their footy the way they have the last couple of weeks,” Hahn said.
