Lewy Taylor enjoyed an incredible turn around in form this year after a stressful and disappointing 2016 season.
Taylor took his speed and silky skills to a whole new level in 2017, much to the delight of Senior Coach Chris Fagan who said he is a “joy to coach.”
“Squizzy” played every game for the Lions this year and kicked a career high of four goals in the Lions' Round 14 win over Fremantle.
The midfielder’s efforts were rewarded with selection in the AFL Players under 22 40-man

Coaches’ Comment, Dale Tapping, Midfield Coach
"2017 was his best season so far, set up with a strong pre-season allowing him to play every game. Spent more time inside to develop his game with some good results."
"His outside influence was always a threat to the opposition with his leg speed and his ability to carry the ball forward. He is entering a stage where is his best football is to come after 80 odd games."
In their own words:
“We all sat down with Fages [Chris Fagan] at the start of the year and mine was a great meeting that really set me up to crack in for a good year…He has been really helpful but his positivity is the main thing for me.
“We are playing a brand of footy that challenges a lot of sides. The team defence is a work in progress and we will continue to work on it because we believe it is the style that will take us forward.”
