Tahlia Hickie: Pick No. 28, 182cm, 22/7/2000
- Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy player
- Tested well at the 2019 AFLW Combine
- Played two games for the Lions undefeated QW Winter Series team
The Lions have selected Tahlia Hickie with Pick No. 28 at today’s NAB AFLW Draft in Melbourne.
The Hyundai Help for Kids Lions Academy graduate, who stands at 182cm, plays as a ruck or key position player for premiers Coorparoo in the QAFLW. She played two games in the ruck for the Lions undefeated QW Winter Series team.
At the recent combine Hickie finished equal fifth in the two-kilometre time trial and fourth in the standing vertical jump. She can take a strong mark; has a powerful long right foot kick and is quick and agile for her size.
Coach Craig Starcevich said Hickie had worked hard over the past 12 months, after missing out on draft last year because of a leg injury.
“Tahlia is athletic, quick and has great endurance,” he said.
“She is most often found in the ruck now, but in the long term we want to look at her as a key position player and explore her versatility.”
