Selina Priest: Pick No. 45, 176cm, 21/8/1990
- Former Lions AFLW player who played in 2017 AFLW Grand Final
- Played for the Lions in the QW Winter Series in 2019
- Won Coolangatta Bluebirds 2019 Best and Fairest
In an incredible individual turnaround, Selina Priest has been selected for the Lions at Pick No. 45 in today’s AFLW Draft.
Priest, formerly Goodman, was an inaugural player for the Lions in 2017 and even played in their Grand Final loss to Adelaide.
The 29-year-old was delisted at the conclusion of the 2017 season but has worked hard in the years since, with strong performances for Coolangatta in the QAFLW competition.
At 176cm, Priest is versatile across the ground, able to play anywhere from a rebounding defender to ruck.
She played two games for the Lions in their undefeated QW Winter Series campaign against the Gold Coast.
Coach Craig Starcevich credited Priest for her perseverance over the years.
“Selina sough advice from other coaches on how she could improve her game,” he said.
“She has found a really good role for herself as a running, rebound tall defender.
“This year she has banged the door down by her performances in the QAFLW and even won the Bluebirds’ Best and Fairest player award.”
