Three Bombers, Two Lions, we take a look at some of the player's to watch on the weekend.
Zach Merrett
Impressive stats see Zach Merrett excelling this season. Averaging 14.8 kicks, 14 Handballs, 28.8 Disposals and 5 Marks. He has stepped up in Season 2016, and looks like a natural leader at the club.
8th position in the league's total possessions highlights the fact that to win this game, the Lions will have to minimise Merrett’s impact.
Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
Tipungwuti has certainly made a good impression in his first year in the AFL. Averaging 15.6 disposals, 3.3 tackles and a 77.4% disposal efficiency he will be a dangerous addition to the Dons side. Speed and excitement can describe Tinpungwuti’s game style and he will be one to watch this weekend.
Matthew Leuenberger
Former Lion, Leuenberger, will face his old side for the first time since changing clubs at the end of the 2015 Season.
Averaging 26.6 hit outs and ranked 9th in the competition, the Lions’ midfield will need to be on their toes at every contest when the 203cm unit is around.
The Leuenberger v Martin battle will be one to watch on the weekend.
Dayne Zorko
Arguably Brisbane’s most consistent player, Dayne Zorko has provided leadership in his vice-captaincy role when the Lions were without injured captain Tom Rockliff.
He has averaged 24.3 disposals and leading the Club in most goals with 17.
He will be looking to impress this week in a must win match.
Daniel Merrett
Daniel Merrett will make his return after missing last weekend's game againt the GIANTS due to illness. He adds much needed experience to our young defence and is feeling good ahead of our Round 18 clash against the Bombers.
In yesterday's press conference, Merrett acknowledged that his form hasn't been as good as he'd of liked, but knows that he still has a lot to bring to the group.
"No, I'm not having a great year, but I still feel like I can bring something to the group," he said.
Will he take Essendon's leading goal kicker Joe Daniher?
