We take a look at some of the key stats from Saturday's match against Hawthorn.
The differential in contested possession At Half time we lead the contested possession count 86-74, but finished the game leading by 5. Contested possession is split into 6 areas, hard ball gets (+24), free kicks (-5), loose ball gets (-6), gather from hit-outs (-3), contested marks (-7) and knock ons (-1). So despite leading this stat as a whole, there are obviously some areas for improvement.
The differential in red time scoring Red time refers to play from the 20 minute mark of each quarter onwards. We were outscored by 56 points in red time across the four quarters.
Our total number of free kicks againstIn the last month we've averaged 25 free kicks against per game (the most in the competition). This week we had another 25 free kicks against. This is an area that we will need to fix.
Our kicking efficiencyWe finished the game with a disposal efficiency of 68.9%, compared to 72.3%. More alarming was our kicking efficiency which was at 57% compared to 64%. Against the Hawks you really need to hit your targets, or they can hurt you. This is once again another area that the boys will need to work on. |
