Key Lions a chance to play
The Lions could regain some key players ahead of Sunday's clash
Brown (hip) and Golby (quad) were late withdrawals from the Lions’ side that defeated Melbourne in Darwin last Saturday night, and will continue to be closely monitored throughout the week.
“Both are looking OK,” Brett Burton told LIONS TV as part of the Bupa Recovery Report.
“Golbs was just a little bit tight in the quad, so it wasn’t anything too serious. We just didn’t want to take the risk, especially with the long flight. He should get through main training on Thursday and should be available.
“With Browny, he just had some hip issues out the back of the (North Melbourne) game and was a little bit irritated.
“Again, whether it’s this week or next week, he won’t be too far away. We’ll see how he goes on Thursday and make a decision after that.”
Moloney is also pressing to return from a calf injury that has kept him sidelined since Round 15, while Black’s troublesome groin will be assessed.
“Beamer’s tracking along really well. He’s had calf issues, but trained well (on Monday),” Burton said.
“Blacky’s a little bit different. He pulled up a little bit sore form training last week, so we’ll see how he tracks along this week.”
“All of those guys are pretty much touch and go, and close to being available.”
Stefan Martin is also getting closer to his on-field return, but will have to wait at least one more week given the Lions Reserves have a Bye this weekend.
Nick Hayes, meanwhile, is still listed as being 2-3 weeks away with a foot injury.
