Mitch Robinson has been ruled out for the next 1-2 weeks with a calf injury.

The 26-year-old midfielder suffered a small tear to his calf in Sunday’s loss to the West Coast Eagles.

“Unfortunately, Mitch has a small tear in his calf. He’s probably going to be missing  for a week or two as he recovers from that,” said Lions Head of Physiotherapy Shane Lemcke.

Robinson was one of the Lions’ best on Sunday with 23 possessions and four tackles.

Lemcke said a hand injury to Daniel Rich inflicted from a smothering attempt shouldn’t impact his preparation ahead of this weekend’s match against North Melbourne.

“He’s had an x-ray and he doesn’t have any broken bones. It should settle over the week and he should be fine.”

Veteran defender Daniel Merrett missed the flight to Perth due to illness but will be available for Saturday’s match.

“Dan picked up a gastro bug after our main training on Friday. Unfortunately he was too sick to get on the flight, so he didn’t play on the weekend.

“I saw him this morning, he was a lot better. He should train normally and be available this week.”

Youngster Jaden McGrath will also be available following his recovery from a sternoclavicular joint injury suffered in the final NAB Challenge Match against GWS.
