Carlton's total number of uncontested marks

Carlton were able to take a huge number of uncontested marks, which at times allowed them to control the pace and tempo of the game. This also shows that we were unable to man up when we needed to.

Carlton finished the game with 375 disposals compared to our 342.

The total number of intercept marks taken by Carlton

Carlton were able to take a total of 19 intercept marks, 14 of which were from their defenders. Jacob Weitering finished with seven of these and Sam Docherty had five.

There are two main reasons for these intercept marks, the first being skill errors and the second being strong contested grabs by Carlton.

The differential in contested possessions and Jarrad Jansen

We had 129 contested possessions compared to 113. This was our best performance in terms of contested possession for the year, but unfortunately other areas around the ground let us down.

Jarrad Jansen made his debut on the weekend, wearing the famous number 16 jumper. He was among our best players, finishing with a total of 21 disposals, 13 contested possessions and one goal.

The differential in clearances

Another area we dominated was clearances. We finished the game with 42 clearances compared to Carlton's 25.

Tom Rockliff led the way with 13 clearances, followed by Mitch Robinson with seven and Bastinac with five.
