A disappointing loss for the boys on Saturday at Etihad as we went down by 38 points to Carlton however, there was some light with an outstanding debut and a strong comeback by our skipper.
On debut, Jarrad Jansen had 21 disposals, five tackles, four clearances and his first AFL goal, showing a lot of promise for the ex-Geelong midfielder.
Captain Tom Rockliff came back from a hamstring injury in good form, with 18 contested possessions, 13 clearances, nine tackles and a goal as the team won the contested footy count 129-113 and clearances 42-25.
Mitch Robinson performed an outstanding run-with job on Bryce Gibbs, holding the Blues star to just 12 possessions while racking up 25 himself, 15 of them contested, and laying eight tackles.
While usual suspect Dayne Zorko (25 touches, 6 tackles) was also good, as was Ryan Harwood (20 possessions, 6 marks) at the back while Daniel Merrett held Levi Casboult to one goal.
