Frost becomes a Lion
Eight things you didn't know about Jack Frost

Athletic 195cm defender, Jack Frost, was recruited by Collingwood at pick no.41 in the 2013 Rookie Draft.

Known for his pace and the ability to kill the contest, Frost made great strides at the beginning of his first year on the rookie list, playing a key role at centre half back during the NAB Cup and earning an elevation onto the senior list.

He made his debut in round 1, 2013, against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium, playing two of the first three games of the Season and did not look out of place, but a PCL injury against his old VFL club Williamstown left him on the sidelines for several months.

The 2014 Season was a breakout year for Frost. He played in every senior outing earning him a two-year contract extension.

He was officially upgraded to the AFL list at the conclusion of a 2015 Season which saw him make 20 appearances in the black and white.

In 2016, Frost didn't play senior football after round 12. He finished the Season in the VFL before suffering an ankle injury that ruled him out of the VFL Magpies’ preliminary final loss.

Year by year:

2013

Frost made a quick impression on his new coaches with his athleticism and attitude and slotted into centre half back during the NAB Cup. He was one of two players to be elevated onto the senior list as a nominated rookie ahead of the Season proper and made his debut as a late inclusion for the round one match with North Melbourne. He played two games before returning to the VFL where a PCL injury hindered his Season. It took him 10 weeks to return to football and he was hungry to make up for lost time, averaging three tackles across his final five games and performing superbly in the Elimination Final against Port Melbourne.

2014

Elevated to the senior list prior to round one due to an injury to Ben Reid, Frost did not look out of place in his second year at the club. The key defender was the only Magpie to represent the club in every senior match. He played a pivotal role in the round two win against Sydney, holding Lance Franklin to one goal. He showed his versatility three weeks later, taking on the mid-sized forward Aaron Black, holding him goalless. Frost was arguably the staple in an ever-changing back six and will look to leverage off a remarkable Season in 2015.

2015

Frost took on some of the biggest power forwards in the game 2015, and often walked away victorious. A pillar in defence alongside the more experienced Nathan Brown, the 21-year-old Frost extended on his consistent 2014 season with another 20 games in 2015. He had exciting battles against young forwards in Joe Daniher in round four and Jesse Hogan in round 10, keeping both quiet in a pair of captivating contests. Limitations on Frost’s offensive game led to him spending the final two weeks of the season in the VFL. He performed admirably in the VFL Magpies’ elimination final victory over Werribee at North Port Oval, but was unable meet the eligibility requirements that would allow him to continue to play in the VFL finals campaign.

2016

Frost fell out of favour this Season and didn't play senior football after round 12. He finished the season in the VFL before suffering an ankle injury that ruled him out of the VFL Magpies’ preliminary final loss and was traded to the Brisbane Lions in October.
