Lewis Taylor said the opportunity to escape Brisbane's humidity and head south for this year's INC pre-season training camp was a welcome change.
"It's good to get out of the heat obviously, that's why we've come down to Tassie," said Taylor.
"It's been a good start and the boys are enjoying it."
Taylor notched up his 50th match in 2016 and said the trip to Tasmania gave the playing group an opportunity to run through the game plan for the first time since it was introduced on Saturday.
"Training today was pretty solid. We are running through the game plan side of things now.
"We had a bit of match practice, it wasn't anything too serious. We're just trying to build up that fitness and get through to Christmas."
The Lions will return to UTAS Stadium on Wednesday for main training which will be open to the public before heading home to Brisbane on Saturday.
