After losing their opening four rounds, Carlton responded to win five of their last six matches – including last weekend’s triumph over flag favourites Geelong at Etihad Stadium.

The Blues’ victory was inspired given they were without captain Marc Murphy (ankle) and Liam Sumner (foot) for the second half.

The Lions have won their last three matches against the Blues – in 2015 two of Brisbane’s four wins were accounted for by victories over Carlton.

One of the most interesting battles on Saturday looms in the Lions’ attack where last year’s No. 2 draft choice Josh Schache will lock horns again with young Blue and No. 1 pick Jacob Weitering.

While former Blue Tom Bell (who returned to the Sunshine State over the Summer) will be reacquainted with his old club.

Injury Watch

With Murphy and speedy forward Liam Sumner in doubt for Saturday’s game against the Lions, the Blues may be forced two changes.

Dylan Buckley, son of Carlton champion Jim Buckley, has missed the past two matches because of a suspension incurred in the VFL and will be available for selection.

Carlton’s VFL side, The Northern Blues, had a bye last week but Nicky Graham, Jason Tutt, Kristian Jaksch and Jack Silvagni have all performed well at that level and are in the selection frame.
