“Enough is enough” – that’s the message Senior Coach Chris Fagan is picking up from the Brisbane Lions playing group as pre-season gets serious.
“I detect from the players that they’ve got a real hunger to improve,” Fagan told SEN Radio.
“I think they believe enough is enough, and they want to become more competitive and earn respect from other teams because there’s a feeling amongst the team that there’s not a lot of respect for where we are at as a football club.
“And the only way to earn that respect is through performance and they are very much looking forward to doing that.
“It would be great to see our supporters jump on board, fill the Gabba up and make it a really difficult place for team to come and play.”
Fagan said the Club’s pre-season was gaining momentum as player and coaches got down to detailed planning for the 2017 season.
“We’ve just got to give our players a game plan that is easy to understand that can stand up under heat and that they can stick with week after week,” said Fagan.
“I think we are building towards having a competitive team, hopefully this year but certainly in the second and third years to follow we’ll be in great shape.
“We have got some terrific key position players and the Draft that we just had has been all around putting the key connectors in and around them, that can help us become a pretty decent line-up.
“It’s going to have its ups and downs, but we’d love our fans to get on board with those guys and watch them grow over the next few years. That’s going to be pretty exciting to watch.”
