JB is bigger than 1D...

or at least he was last night at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.

Lions legend Jonathan Brown endeared himself to whole new generation of screaming teenagers by gifting One Direction star Niall Horan a Club Guernsey, which the young heartthrob then wore on stage for part of the concert.

Social media went into meltdown after Brown posted a picture of himself with Horan wearing the the big man’s No.16 guernsey from last year’s historic Anzac Day win over St Kilda in Wellington, saying: “Just preparing to b a backup  singer for my man @NiallOfficial”.

That tweet has been favourited almost 48,000 times and retweeted more than 23,000 times. Brown “trended” on Twitter in Brisbane, then across Australia as his picture went viral.

"Yeah, it was a great night," Brown told lions.com.au

"I swapped shirts w Niall pre-show. I gave him my playing jumper from Anzac Day last year and I put on his 1D t-shirt.

"It was a bit tight. I've been in a good paddock."

Horan then returned the favour by not only wearing the Guernsey but also thanking Brown in front with a pretty good impersonation of JB’s trademark Aussie accent.

The 1D star later tweeted a thank-you to Brown to his 21,3 million Twitter followers.

Horan and One Direction weren’t the first big UK performers to get behind the Lions – Robbie Williams donned the guernsey in support during a concert at Suncorp Stadium in 2006.
