The Brisbane Lions have welcomed star midfielder Daniel Rich back into the senior team for this Saturday night’s match against Collingwood at the MCG.

Rich has been sidelined since Round 14 with a stress reaction in his foot, but made a successful return through the Lions Reserves last Saturday which earned him a senior recall.

The 21 year-old replaces James Hawksley in the only change to the Lions team that defeated the Gold Coast SUNS in QClash 2 last Saturday night at the Gabba.

Young Lions Mitch Golby, Patrick Karnezis and Niall McKeever have also retained their positions in the side and are now set to play their first senior AFL game at the MCG.

Meanwhile, Aaron Cornelius (1 game), Pearce Hanley (2 games), Todd Banfield (3 games), Sam Sheldon (4 games) and Tom Rockliff (4 games) have a combined total of just 14 games experience at the home of AFL football.

This Saturday night will mark the first encounter between the Lions and reigning Premiers Collingwood since Round 10 of 2010.
