The Brisbane Lions were put through their paces in a gruelling preseason training session this morning in the humid Queensland heat at Coorparoo.
It was the first-fourth years’ final session together before the Lions’ senior members return on Monday for the beginning of their pre-season.
The players took part in several high intensity skill drills and a series of challenging sprints around the boundary.
Young midfielder Tom Bell continues to be a standout on the track, not only for his elite running ability, but also for his endurance.
“Belly has come into the Club (from Carlton) and he’s running really well," said midfield coach Simon Black.
“He has great running ability which is a big strength in this game. It’s a good asset for us.”
Defender Marco Paparone is another player to have put in the hard yards this preseason, according to Black.
“Paparone has been showing really good skills.
"The young guys have been driving the training sessions without the senior guys there – it sets a good standard for when the older boys are back.”
After a short break for lunch the players headed across to Cross Fit Torian in Bowen Hills for an afternoon weights session.
The squad will complete their first pre-season time trial when they return on Monday.
