The Brisbane Lions launched their 2015 season in style last night on the hallowed turf of the Gabba.
Led by a rallying call for the season of “Get To The Gabba”, more than 300 of the Club’s corporate partners and financial supporters gathered to fire up what is shaping as the Club’s biggest season in years
Major Partners Vero and National Storage were represented, as were Platinum Partner Hyundai, and Major Support Partners Technology One, Bupa, CUB, BLK, Coca-Cola Amatil and FOUR’N TWENTY.
Guests were given guided tours of the Club’s Football facility by players before taking their seats in the Gabba grandstands to be welcomed by Senior Coach Justin Leppitsch and Captain Tom Rockliff amid a mass of fireworks and flame machines.
The full playing list was then introduced to the crowd, filing onto the ground to stand shoulder-to-shoulder.
Leppitsch said the Club had made great strides both on and off the field in recent times – but there was still plenty of work to do.
Rockliff said the Club had a “buzz” about it at the moment and called on fans to get behind the team.
“We are asking people to ‘Get To The Gabba’, starting with the Round 1 blockbuster against Collingwood,” he said.
“The team would love nothing better than to run out in front of a packed Gabba for such a massive game for this Footy Club.”
The Brisbane Lions Board was also in attendance, led by Chairman Bob Sharpless and Deputy Chairman Leigh Matthews, as was CEO Greg Swann, the Club’s Senior Executive and all of the Vero Coaching Group.
