I’d be surprised if Sam Mayes wasn’t in everyone’s AFL Dream Team by the end of this week.

Maysey has averaged 85 points across his two matches, backing up his 95-point debut performance with another solid 75 pointer against North Melbourne on Sunday.

He is one those players who just seems to find plenty of space on the footy field, and he generally uses the ball well when he’s got it.

At just a touch over $150,000 – you’d be hard-pressed to find a better bargain.

If you can’t fit him into your side this week, chance are he’ll cost you $50K more by the end of Round 5. So best get on him now while he’s still cheap.

In case you weren’t already sold, Sam is also listed as a dual position player – meaning you’ll have the flexibility of playing him in either your midfield or the forward line.

Personally, I’m going to slot him straight into my forward line in place of Bulldog Shaun Higgins, who’s out for the season with a foot injury.

I’ll also be keeping a close eye on Sam Docherty and Marco Paparone in the coming weeks after they scored 58 and 71 points respectively in their debut games.

Tom Rockliff sits atop the Lions’ AFL Fantasy rankings after getting plenty of the ball against the Kangaroos on the weekend, while last year’s leader Jack Redden is currently in third.

I must have an eye for talent, because I have four of the top five Lions players currently in my AFL Dream Team (sorry Jed).
