Brisbane Lions dynamo Dayne Zorko is the most improved player at the end of the 2013 home and away season, according to the Official AFL Player Ratings, brought to you by Vero.

Zorko started the season ranked No.298 in the competition, but he has shot to No.36 overall, with his impressive form through the second half of 2012 also taken into account under the ratings system.

The Broadbeach product is now the second highest ranked Lions player in the Official AFL Player Ratings, behind midfielder Daniel Rich who sits at 16th.

Pearce Hanley (48th), Jack Redden (53rd), and Tom Rockliff (66th) are the only other Lions players who feature inside the top 100.

According to Vero’s AFL Player Ratings, Hanley is the fourth highest ranked defender in the competition, behind West Coast’s Shannon Hurn (27th overall), and Geelong pair Corey Enright (42nd) and Harry Taylor (47th).

Remarkably, Matthew Leuenberger is ranked 321st overall, and 20th among all ruckmen in the AFL competition.

Leuenberger’s surprisingly low rating, however, can be explained by his extended absence with an Achilles injury last season.
