MICHAEL VOSS and Justin Leppitsch have swapped notes on the Brisbane Lions list as the club looks forward to a new era.
Veteran forward Jonathan Brown says that while Voss was caught up in the turmoil that hit the club at the end of last season, "there is no animosity " between the three-time premiership captain and his coaching replacement.
"He's helped Leppa out with identifying where the list is at. They've been through a hell of a lot obviously premiership teammates," Brown told AFL.com.au.
"It wasn't like Leppa's come in and ‘white-anted’ him or anything like that."
"He (Voss) was there in the wash, and it was certainly a surprise that he didn't get re-signed - it was disappointing for a good mate.
"He's put the club in a really good position, he's developed the younger players, people can't forget about that.
"He'll do a good job down the track when he gets back into coaching,"
Leppitsch returned to the Lions after four years as an assistant coach at Richmond.
Brown is still on light duties and confirmed he won't play in the NAB Challenge, but insisted playing in round one of the home and away season was a "genuine possibility."
"I've come off a little bit of a stress fracture in my foot, which has been disappointing, I was in pretty good nick pre-Christmas," Brown said.
"I'm back running, and running at a good pace now. I'll need things to go smoothly, but I'm confident I'll get myself up."
He remains optimistic about the year ahead, having made the decision to play on.
"I thought long and hard about it at the end of the year, but I got a pretty good medical report," he said.
"I still feel like I've got some footy left in me, it's just a matter of if I can get my body healthy.
"There's a really good feel around the joint. (We've) been through a lot of turmoil off the field, club, but it seems to me we've got more AFL support now, more resources, more coaches have come in.
“It's an exciting future for the club."
