Head Coach Craig Starcevich has named an unchanged 23-women squad ahead of the Lions top of Conference A and Conference B clash against the Dockers in Fremantle on Sunday afternoon.
Starcevich has stuck with a winning formula, as the Lions remain undefeated halfway through the AFLW season with three wins and a draw to their name.
Cathy Svarc will play her first game in Western Australia after being named at halfback; fresh from her incredible performance against GWS where she kicked two goals, had 23 disposals and made 11 tackles.
Inaugural players Emily Bates and Ally Anderson, who had a combined effort of 49 disposals last weekend, have been named in the midfield.
Sunday’s match against the Dockers will also mark Vice-Captain Sharni Webb 25th milestone for the Club.
Webb said conditions will come into play at Fremantle Oval.
“They always play pretty good at home,” Webb said.
“Their field has got an interesting afternoon breeze that comes across and they’re quite trained for those conditions.
“We’ll have to adapt pretty quickly.”
The Dockers will be the toughest assignment for the Lions so far as they are undefeated in Conference B. Webb and her backline teammates will be busy matching up against the likes of Fremantle’s Roxy Roux, a first-year player who has kicked four goals in 2020.
“They’ve got some really quality forwards,” Webb said.
“She’s a pretty tough opponent.”
The final 21-women team will be named tomorrow.
