Sharni Webb has patiently watched her other Foundation Eight teammates reach their 25th AFLW game milestones and on Sunday against the Dockers in Fremantle, she will finally have her moment.
“It’s exciting to reach a milestone game, obviously four years in it takes a little while for us to get there with the length of the AFLW season but I’m pretty stoked I’m finally there,” Webb told lions.com.au.
The Vice-Captain has experienced a range of emotions in her four years at the Lions. She has played in two AFLW Grand Finals, ultimately losing both as well as suffering a stress fracture in her foot which ruled her out of matches in 2019.
“There’s always the drive to keep fighting to get that premiership so that’s the number one goal,” she said.
“I’ve really enjoyed this year and the group that we’ve got this year.
“It’s been really exciting seeing all the girls reach their milestone games but also all the new talent that we’ve picked up this year.
“They’re such a great bunch.”
One aspect that has been consistent over four years is the Lions being underestimated by the competition.
“It seems every year we come out as underdogs or people have a lot of doubt about the Lions,” she said.
“We’ve been a fairly consistent team across all four years.
“We thrive off that.
“If people want to doubt us, we’ll prove them wrong.”
The Lions will meet Fremantle in a top of the Conference A and Conference B clash on Sunday afternoon in Fremantle.
