With the men's season fast approaching, The Roar Deal welcomed Jarryd Lyons to the show.
Lyons described the 2020 pre-season as one of the toughest he's endured.
"It's been some of the hardest I've seen", Lyons said.
"The boys have attacked their own training really well which has set us up for a really good season."
Lyons spoke of the Lions' resilience against Carlton in Week 3 of the Marsh Community Series.
"We know that once we get our game right, and based on that inside, contested possession and clearance kind of ball game we came at them pretty hard," he said.
"As a centre bounce group, we had a really good chat.
"One of the ways our group has matured a lot it that we can figure stuff out mid-quarter.
"I think we ended up kicking four or five goals from centre bounces."
Dev Robertson appeared in the Lions Senior side for the first time, and Lyons had nothing but praise for the young star.
"His willingness to learn - he's willing to take feedback. He really wants to improve his game," Lyons said.
The Lions will have a one week break before they play Hawthorn at the MCG in Round 1 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
