A story on lions.com.au following Saturday’s match suggested that Simon Black is Michael Voss’ ‘pin-up’ boy - and it’s little wonder why.

Black is one of the most decorated players in the current competition - along with the likes of Chris Judd and Adam Goodes - and continues to dominate games despite being well into 14th AFL season.

In fact, Black is averaging a career-high 27.5 disposals per game, which is almost two disposals more than his previous best average of 25.7 back in 2008 - a season in which he was Runner-Up in the Brownlow Medal.

He’s a fan favourite because he produces near his best each week and leads by example for a young and developing Lions outfit.

Fans who watched the Lions’ loss to North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium would have witnessed some vintage Black. The three-time Club Champion collected a season-high 37 disposals and racked up 130 AFL Dream Team points.

He was clearly the Lions’ best against the Kangaroos - which was reflected in his Dream Team performance. Black is among the top three at the Club in total AFL Dream Team points behind young midfield apprentices Jack Redden and Tom Rockliff who also exceeded 100 points on the weekend.

Meanwhile, Jed Adcock remains the most popular Lions selection in AFL Dream Teams, appearing in 52,649 teams around the world. Interestingly, rookie ruckmen Broc McCauley (35,877 selections) and Bart McCulloch (29,722 selections) are ranked second and third respectively in terms of Dream Team popularity.

The competition among AFL Dream Teams in the Lions’ Group continues to be fierce among the top four competitors.

The J Dog’s ‘Blowtorch’ maintains top spot for the second consecutive week, with bradpitt FC (coached by Josh) moving from fourth to second after a stunning Round 18 effort. ‘Spaceballs’ and ‘albertproudftw’ now find themselves in third and fourth position respectively after leading the competition for most of the season.

Congratulations also to ‘Microfyte Butchers’ - coached by Burs - whose massive score of 2,530 earned them the honour of being the highest scoring team of Round 18.
