Brisbane Lions fans weren’t the only ones who cast votes online for their preferred Hall of Fame commemorative guernsey over the past week, with midfielder Brent Moloney campaigning hard for the Bears inspired design worn between 1989-1991.

Moloney took to Twitter to advise his 10,000+ followers  exactly what jumper he would personally like to be wearing against Essendon in Round 8 at the Gabba - referencing 'retro' cult figure Warwick Capper in the process.

"(Option 1) is my vote for the Round 8 Hall of Fame Guernsey #TakeWarrickCapperHangersInIt," Moloney Tweeted.

Moloney almost immediately received a response from 'The Wiz' himself, who booted 71 goals and apparently earned “plenty of frequent flyer points” in that particular jumper throughout his 34 matches with the Club.

"I got plenty of frequent flyer points in that jumper. Haha rippa to see it again! U should wear #39 in Rd 8 @Beamnation3," Capper replied.

The public conversation obviously had some effect on the final outcome, with that particular guernsey coming from behind early in the count to narrowly defeat Option 2 – the guernsey worn during the Bears’ final five seasons - by the time voting had closed.

Although taking ‘hangers’ probably isn’t Moloney’s specialty, the Lions’ new Number 39 – Jackson Paine – comes highly regarded for his marking ability and will be hoping to do Capper proud out on the Gabba come Round 8.
