Pearce Hanley
Pearce Hanley led a brilliant second-half revival the last time the Lions played the SUNS in Round 4. Hanley was named the Marcus Ashcroft medallist for best afield for the second time, finishing with 28 disposals and two goals.
While Hanley’s form has wavered in 2016, the Irishman typically stars against the cross-town rivals. Watch for Hanley streaming through the midfield on Saturday.
Harris Andrews
Queenslander Harris Andrews’ fourth QClash should see the 19-year-old line-up on the SUNS’ Peter Wright.
Wright earned a NAB Rising Star Nomination last weekend and Andrews looms as a likely match up to the SUNS forward. Andrews reads the play well, is a great mark and uses the ball well, he is ranked AFL third for one-percenters per-game and fourth in the competition for spoils. Watch out for what promises to be the first of many battles.
Tom Lynch
At 199cm key forward Tom Lynch was dangerous the last time the Lions met the SUNS. Lynch kicked five goals including three in the first quarter.
The 23-year-old is ranked 1st in the league for total contested marks and 1st in total marks inside 50 and is third with 43 goals in the race for this year’s Coleman Medal. He looms as one to watch on Saturday.
Steven May
Given a five-week suspension by the AFL tribunal for a heavy hit that concussed the Lions’ Stefan Martin in Round 4, Steven May should expect to be met with a fiery reception from the Lions.
May is coming off a career-high 23 disposal performance against St Kilda and is ranked second in the competition for one-percenters.
Michael Rischitelli
Former Lion Michael Rischitelli won a best and fairest in his final season at Brisbane in 2010. On Saturday he’ll play his 100th game for the SUNS.
Rischitelli is coming off a season-high 33 disposals, 8 marks and 6 tackles against St Kilda in Round 15.
