Ryan Lester might be considered one of the more ‘romantic’ players at the Brisbane Lions, but the 21-year-old decided to take a different approach this Valentine’s Day.
Lester, who is dating teammate Dayne Zorko’s sister, admitted that he had neglected to send his girlfriend any gifts while the team was in Melbourne.
“I’m playing a bit of hardball. We’ll see how that tactic goes for me,” Lester joked with Jordan Lisle on LIONS TV at the Victorian Family Day, which happened to coincide with Valentine’s Day.
Zorko spilled the beans on Lester’s ‘inactivity’ after earlier checking in with his sister.
“I did get a message earlier on that nothing had come in the post yet for her, so I’ll be having a quiet little chat with Ryan Lester and making sure that he’s looking after her,” Zorko said.
Zorko himself had already managed to organise something for his special someone.
“I sent a few roses up home, so hopefully the hugs and kisses got them and she’s had a lovely day,” he said.
Lester had earlier been dubbed the most romantic player at the Lions by teammate Sam Michael, who also had the foresight to arrange a delivery of flowers for his wife in Brisbane.
“I reckon (Ryan Lester’s) a bit of a romantic at heart. He doesn’t like to show it, or admit it, but behind closed doors you’d be surprised,” Michael said.
