The Brisbane Lions welcome the decision by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to allow fans back to the footy under a dedicated COVID Safe Plan for the Gabba.
The Queensland Premier announced today 2000 fans would be welcomed into the Gabba for Saturday night’s clash between the Lions and West Coast.
Lions CEO Greg Swann said the easing of crowd restrictions was a significant step for the Club and its fans. “Our fans are among the most passionate and loyal in the competition and this is a great result for them,’’ he said.
“They stuck by us during tough times caused by this pandemic and to be able to repay that faith is very important to us.
“We thank the Government, Queensland Health and the Gabba who did a lot of work to make this a reality.
“We encourage our Members who want to be the first to watch the Lions play live this season to enter into the ballot.
“We can’t wait to see you there.’’
Of the 2000 available seats, 1250 will be made up of those who pledged their membership to the Club during this time. Pledge Members will be randomly selected via an online ballot system. MemberHQ will be in contact with all eligible members later today.
There will also be an allocation to corporate partners and sponsors and a small number available for sale to the general public.
With a month of footy set to take place at the Gabba, members who miss out this weekend will be made a priority for the upcoming rounds against Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide.
