Even though the Brisbane Lions’ 25-man squad won’t be revealed until 2pm (QLD time) on Thursday, there’s at least one name that fans can expect to see on the team list.
Newly appointed Co-Captain Jed Adcock declared he is certain to face Greater Western Sydney this Saturday night in Wagga Wagga, during a live chat with Lions fans on Wednesday.
Adcock underwent hip surgery at the conclusion of the 2012 season, which interrupted his pre-season and kept him out of last weekend’s NAB Cup opener on the Gold Coast.
“I’m looking forward to getting down to Wagga,” Adcock said during his live chat.
“(I’m) still a bit behind (in terms of training). I had a bit of clean-up (surgery) in the off-season but will hopefully catch up over the next month and be firing for Round 1.”
Adcock also hinted that ruckman Matthew Leuenberger might also be selected to make the trip to New South Wales.
“Leuey is travelling well and there's a possibility of him having a run around this weekend,” Adcock said.
“We'll have to wait for the teams to be announced.”
Adcock looks set to lead the team for the first time since his recent ‘promotion’.
He will likely be reunited with fellow Co-Captain Jonathan Brown the following week in Melbourne when the Lions face Collingwood at Etihad Stadium – with the Victorian Family Fun Day scheduled for the following day (Sunday 10 March).
