Lions.com.au takes a look at some of the players who stood out in the Club’s 34-point victory over Collingwood at Etihad Stadium last Saturday night.

Disposals
Tom Rockliff led the team’s possession tally for the second time this pre-season with 27 quality disposals against Collingwood.

Midfield partners-in-crime Daniel Rich and Brent Moloney weren’t far behind with 25 and 24 disposals respectively.

Meanwhile, Patrick Karnezis continued to impress through the midfield with another 20-disposal effort.

Disposal Efficiency
Karnezis not only collected the ball 20 times, but he generally used it well with a disposal efficiency of 85%.

Defenders Jed Adcock and Mitch Golby, who each had 15 possessions for the match, led the way in terms of disposals efficiency with 89.5% and 88.9% respectively.

Marks
After a heavy knock limited his game-time against GWS, Golby once again showed his ability to mop up out of defence with an equal team-high seven marks.

Stefan Martin also pulled in seven marks and constantly provided a  target for his teammates both up forward and around the ground. Martin was also the only Lions player to take more than one contested mark, including one beauty inside forward 50m while sandwiched between two Collingwood opponents.

Clearances
Not to be outdone by new recruit and ‘clearance specialist’ Brent Moloney, Daniel Rich and Tom Rockliff cleared the ball from congestion more times than any other Lions player.

Rich finished with a team-high seven clearances (four of which were from centre bounces), while Rockliff had five.

Rebound 50s
No surprise to see defenders Golby and Justin Clarke lead the way in terms of Rebound 50s with four each.

Daniel Rich also had four Rebound 50s, testament to his incredible work rate which saw him cover plenty of territory last Saturday night.

Tackles
The Lions’ tackle count of 47 against Collingwood was more than double the previous week’s tally against GWS in Wagga.

Brent Moloney led the way with five tackles, while Rohan Bewick, Aaron Cornelius, Tom Rockliff and Jed Adcock had four each.

Bewick and Cornelius both benefited directly from terrific tackles – kicking goals from the subsequent holding-the-ball decisions.

One Per Centers
The ‘King of one per centers’, Daniel Merrett, didn’t disappoint with a team-high nine one per centers last Saturday night.

Merrett blanketed Collingwood recruit Quinten Lynch, with a diving smother in the second term typical of the full-back’s commitment to his role.

Fellow defenders Justin Clarke and Joel Patfull also had five each.

Inside 50s
Daniel Rich not only led the way in Rebound 50s, but he also pumped the ball inside 50 more times than any other player.

Rich finished with six Inside 50s, one more than midfield teammate Tom Rockliff.

Goals
Senior Coach Michael Voss spoke last week about his new-look forward line structure, and how he hoped that his team wouldn’t rely too heavily on Co-Captain Jonathan Brown.

Well Vossy would have been very happy to see Rohan Bewick bob up with a team-high four goals, and pre-season bolter Aaron Cornelius contribute three.

With Brown relatively well-held, Bewick and Cornelius seemed to provide that other avenue to goal which the Lions have long been searching for.

Cornelius has now booted a team-high nine goals throughout the NAB Cup, including eight from his past two outings.
