LAST TIME THEY MET
The Lions suffered a disappointing loss to a dominant North Melbourne outfit when the two sides meet in Round 4 at Etihad Stadium.

The Roos came out firing with Majak Daw making a memorable AFL debut. Within the opening minute, Daw took a big mark and kicked his first goal before being accidentally knocked out and substituted out of the game.

North had the first 11 scoring opportunities of the match, but their inaccuracy kept the Lions in it. Despite having 12 more scoring shots the Roos lead by just 38 points at the first break.

The trend continued after quarter time with the Roos having 17 scoring shots to the Lions four, midway through the second term. But the Roos continued to pay the price for inaccuracy, and despite the difference in scoring opportunities, led by just 28 points.

It wasn’t until the third term that the Roos capitilized on their opportunities, piling on five goals and extending their lead to 63 points.

Despite the fighting efforts of Matthew Leuenberger, Tom Rockliff and Marco Paparone, who kicked three goals on debut, the Lions were unable to claw their way back.

The 63 point loss was the second loss for the Lions at Etihad stadium since winning the NAB Cup Grand Final there earlier in the year..
