THE Brisbane Lions have their eyes on the NAB Cup after two thumping wins at Metricon Stadium on Saturday night.

After taking care of Hawthorn by 21 points and Gold Coast by 33 points, Lions coach Michael Voss said his side planned to tackle the pre-season with full force and enter the premiership season full of running.

The Lions play Greater Western Sydney next weekend before a potentially finals-deciding encounter with Collingwood on March 9.

Co-captain Jed Adcock will return next week in a team Voss said would not be tinkered with too much.

"We've got to get a good start to the season so (winning) is important for us," Voss said.

"We want to get confidence out of the pre-season and I think also from here we have to get some familiarity amongst each other.

"We'll still manage the group, but we want to make sure we can get some continuity and momentum coming into the season, because our last two seasons we haven't started that well and it's put us under the pump a bit."

After a scratchy first half against Hawthorn, the Lions sprang to life with two Dayne Zorko goals before running out easy winners.

They then bucked the trend of teams losing the second of back-to-back games, coasting to an easy win against the Suns on the back of a dominant midfield.

Off-season recruit Brent Moloney was outstanding in the humid and slippery conditions.

"We haven't had too many injury interrupted pre-seasons," Voss said

"The last two or three years some of our young guys have had consistent pre-seasons under their belt.

"It does help you as you get older and you get more resilient and your ability to strength-run. [In] that last quarter, it's there for you, and we're hoping our whole group can do that more often."
